os meus óculos de sol cutler and gross
os primeiros comprados em princípios dos idos 90's, quando a parfois ainda não era franchising e tinha a cave da loja de santa catarina recheada de coisas boas para gajo vestir (muito dinheiro da desaparecida jnict lá foi gasto)
os segundos, pedidos de manhã e produzidos por encomenda específica para substituírem os primeiros (que se tinham voltalizado nas ilhas) até ao final da tarde na minúscula sede em kensington, em 99
os dois encontrado-se em 2000 quando, de volta às férias de ilhas, os primeiros saíram de um exilío forçado debaixo da almofada de um sofá
actualmente os dois em suave reforma (embora ainda muito amados), tendo sido substítuidos na utilização mais bruta por uns jovens rayban mais na moda, que é o problema das crises de meia-idade

the second ones, asked in the morning in the little flag shop in kensington in 1999 and produced until the end of the afternoon, by special request, to replace the first ones (disappeared during the vacations)
both united in the summer of 2000 when, back in vacations in azores the first ones return from an exile under a pillow of a sofa
actually both in a sweet retirement (although still loved), after being replaced in the more heavy duty use by some young and "more now" rayban's, consequences of a mild middle-life crisis

eu até gostava do trabalho dela...
tinha visto ao vivo os seus truismos, lá no século passado, quando ela representou os eua na bienal de veneza; e mais tarde no aeroporto de amsterdamn (ou seria em paris?!), na loja dos perfumes do lang em new york, recentemente em bilbao, e em tantos outros sítios, além de sempre nas minhas aulas que não podia passar sem ela
até a t'shirt comprei!

i even liked her work...
i had seen her truisms, last century, when she represented america at the venice biennial; and later at the amsterdamn airport (or maybe paris?!), in lang perfume store in new york, recently in bilbao, and in so many other places, besides and always in my classes where i couldn't pass without her
i even bought the t'shirt!

daí a minha felicidade quando de repente encontro uma carta dela na minha caixa de correio
so you could imagine my happiness when suddenly i found her letter in my letterbox

para falar verdade não era bem dela... era da printed matter, uma óptima livraria/galeria/editora de new york especializada em publicações e edições de arte e de artistas
já lá comprei e tenciono comprar mais
diversos artistas colaboram com a printed matter e daí a minha carta "directamente" da jenny holzer
na realidade lá dentro, além de um prospecto para me incentivar a ser membro da printed matter, vinha igualmente um carta com um trabalho impresso de jenny holzer oferecido por ela à printed matter e por eles enviado à sua mailing list

to tell you the truth it wasn't really from her... it was from printed matter, a very fine and good bookshop/gallery/publisher from new york specialized in art and artists' publications
i already bought there and i have the intention to buy there more
several artist collaborate with printed matter, and that's why i received a letter "directly" from jenny holzer
in reality inside, beside a leaflet trying to convince me to be one of their members, was a letter with a jenny holzer' printed work, offered by her to printed matter and send by them to their mailing list

está lá tudo: da diferença básica entre um jpg e um gif, e uma detalhada ilustrada explicação de todos os diferentes processos de impressão, à legislação (infelizmente não a nossa, como era óbvio) ou às diferentes proporções harmónicas e regra de ouro, tal como muita, muita outra informação
e cabe no bolso (está bem! um bolso largo)
e, ainda por cima, está bem desenhado, tem páginas para notas no final de cada capítulo, e uma capa gira (já sei em azul, e não em rosa, josefa!!)

everything is there: from the basic difference between a jpg and a gif, and a ilustrated and detailled explanation of all the different printing processes, to the legislation (obviously not applied to the national cases) and the different harmonious proportions and golden rule, as many, many more information
and it's pocket size (ok! a large pocket)
and, not happy with that, well designed, has note pages at the end of each chapter and a nice cover (ok! in blue and not in pink, josefa!!)

quando, deliciado, no coliseu, me lembrei que, exceptuando um pontual concerto de jazz ou clássica, os últimos concertos a que tinha ido tinham sido o antony and the johnsons, os scissor sisters e agora o rufus pus-me a pensar...

i'm not a great concert-goer but yesterday i've gone to the wonderful show of rufus wainwright
when, delighted, at the coliseum, i remembered that, with the exception of a occasional jazz or classical music concert, the last concerts that i attended were antony and the johnsons, scissor sisters and now rufus i wondered...

e sim, foram todos maravilhosos (cada um no seu género)
and yes, they were all fabulous (each one in it's own genre)
