arco mais largo do aqueduto das águas livres (lisboa,custódio vieira, manuel da maia, carlos mardel e joão frederio ludovice,1729-1744)
mas porquê?!
desde miúdo, quando em visita aos avós em lisboa, sempre se levantou a questão sobre porque um dos arcos era mais largo. seria para passar as 6 faixas da av. calouste gulbenkian? não me parece que fosse uma preocupação em 1744, e ainda por cima o arco é assimétrico em relação ao vale de alcântara!

but why?!
since child, every time there was a visit to the grandparents in lisbon the question popped up, why one of the aqueduct’s arches was larger than the others? should it be for the six lanes avenue nowadays passing through? don’t think that that issue was one of the thoughts worrying the architects in 1744, and even worst, why asymmetrical in relation to the alcântara valley?
